Manchester United supporters can still buy David de Gea shirts for next season even though the goalkeeper isn't an official Manchester United player at the moment
Manchester United is selling David de Gea 2023/24 shirts despite the fact the Spaniard doesn't play for them anymore.
De Gea's contract officially expired at the end of June and although talks over a new deal are ongoing the goalkeeper is, for the time being, a free agent.
But it seems United has decided to continue selling shirts with his name and number on the back on their website, with fans having to shell out as much as £105 for one.
De Gea's future at Old Trafford is up in the air after United controversially withdrew their latest contract offer - a deal De Gea was reportedly ready to sign.
A £35m bid for Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana, which was hastily rejected, suggests the club expect him to leave, though negotiations remain open for the time being.
The 32-year-old was the highest earner at the club and one of the best-paid players in the Premier League last season thanks to the eye-watering £375,000-a-week deal he signed back in 2019.
United's initial extension proposal would have seen De Gea's wages drop dramatically, and although the player agreed to the terms, the club opted not to fulfil their side of the proposal and instead offered him a new deal for even lower wages.
Understandably annoyed by the change of heart, De Gea has left the offer on the table and is currently considering his options.
Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr have registered an interest, and De Gea could be coaxed over by former United teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, though it's understood a number of Spanish clubs are also considering making him an offer.
The veteran keeper has made 545 appearances for the Red Devils, having been an ever-present in the side since his move from Atletico Madrid as a 19-year-old back in 2011, and has won five major honors, including the Premier League in 2013, the FA Cup in 2016 and the Europa League in 2017.
