Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has reportedly decided to leave the club at the end of his current contract in 2025.
The 52-year-old has been in charge of City since 2016, and has won five Premier League titles, two FA Cups, and four League Cups during his time at the club. He also led City to their first ever Champions League title in 2023.
Guardiola's decision to leave City comes as a surprise to many, as he had previously hinted that he could stay at the club for a long time. However, it is understood that he is now ready for a new challenge.
It is not yet clear where Guardiola will go after he leaves City. He has been linked with jobs at Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Juventus, but it is also possible that he will take a break from management.
Guardiola's departure will be a major blow to City, as he is one of the most successful managers in the world. However, the club have a strong squad and a good youth system, and they will be confident of finding a suitable replacement.
Gundogan contract talks ongoing
Meanwhile, City are also in talks with Ilkay Gundogan over a new contract. The German midfielder's current deal expires at the end of the season, and he has been linked with a move to Barcelona.
However, City are hopeful that Gundogan will stay at the club. He is a key member of the squad, and he has been in excellent form this season.
City are prepared to offer Gundogan a new deal that would make him one of the highest-paid players at the club. They are also willing to give him a longer contract, which would give him the security he needs to continue his career at City.
The talks between City and Gundogan are ongoing, and it is hoped that a deal can be reached in the near future.
